Ohio officer charged with murder

Cincinnati, Ohio — (NBC News) A University of Cincinnati police officer has been indicted on a charge of murder after fatally shooting an unnarmed motorist during a July 19th traffic stop.

Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters announced the murder charge against former officer Ray Tensing during an emotional press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Deters described the shooting of Samuel DuBose as “the most asinine act I’ve ever seen a police officer make.”

DuBose was pulled over because of a missing front license plate and could not find his driver’s license while being questioned by Tensing.

Graphic footage from Tensing’s body camera showed conversation leading up to the shooting, as well as the fatal shot.
