Thousands of people came out to celebrate a Rogue Valley tradition today.
This year the annual Pear Blossom Festival celebrates it’s 60th year,and some say this year has been better than ever.
Thousands of runners took the streets of downtown Medford Saturday morning.
It was the 37th year the festival has hosted it’s annual run.
Something that Holly Hight of Ashland enjoyed for the second time, she was the first female to finish the 5k at 19 minutes and 3 seconds.
“It was amazing. I had a great time out there. The crowd was incredible. The energy was amazing. I love this race.”
Over 31-hundred runners participated in the one and two mile fun runs, 5k, and 10 mile.
Early in the afternoon an estimated 25,000 people attended the pear blossom parade, which included some of your favorite NBC-5 personalities.
But for most of the kids we talked talked to, there were a lot of favorites.
After the parade, everyone headed to the Garden at the Downtown Medford Commons, the permanent new home for the Pear Blossom Street Fair.
There, everyone was able to sample a combination of fair favorites like corn dogs, kettle corn, and elephant ears.
“By all accounts our vendors love it, all across the board we have had great feedback people are loving it. They love the beauty of the park.”
The festival and parade have grown every year.
During the first year of the parade only 20 wagons and a handful of children marched in it.
This year more than 4-thousand people marched.
