Race for Josephine County Sheriff

Grants Pass, Ore. — Initial results from Josephine County showed current sheriff Gil Gilbertsonis trailing behind Grants Pass Police officer Dave Daniel.

was talking with supports and candidates from other races at the republican headquarters in grants pass.

As of 9:53 pm, Daniels had 49.05% of the vote, Gilbertson had 38.6% and Edward Vincent had 12.07%.

NBC 5 spoke with Daniels and Gilbertson, and while they are competing against each other, they do agree that safety in Josephine County needs to be improved and a major priority.

“We aren’t going to stop because we didn’t get our money. There is still work to be done and I look forward to that challenge and I look forward to taking that on,” Gilbertson said.

“We’re going to have to be creative, we are going to have to go outside of the box for sure, Josephine County is ready, ready for change. But I think they are ready to trust somebody, they need to trust somebody so I got to start working on that.”

Vincent will not move onto the November election.

Gilbertson will run against Daniels in November.
