Toxicology results are in for 18-year-old Elias Ruiz who was shot and killed by Medford police late January.
The toxicology report says Ruiz was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol when police shot and killed the young man.
Medford police say they were forced to shoot Ruiz when he reportedly charged at them with a knife. Multiple neighbors say they’re not surprised by the toxicology report.
“He didn’t seem like that bad of a kid, he seemed like a normal teenager, so I wouldn’t see any reason for him to really be under the influence of anything,” said neighbor Mark Howland.
A grand jury decided police were justified in using deadly force. Various sources tell NBC 5 news that a civil suit could emerge.
