Stock market in turmoil

(NBC News) Wall Street investors experienced a roller coaster like day Monday.

The Dow plunged more than 1,000 points in the first few minutes of trading.

A slow rebound, followed, with the market eventually closing down 588 points.

The plunge follows news that China’s economy is slowing down.

“They’ve created demand. They’ve created commerce when our economy was slowing. Now China’s slowing, and the rest of the world seems to be fairly slow, too,” explains market analyst Michael Farr.

Still, some see the glass as half-full.

“Some think if you’re a long-term investor, pullbacks like these can prove to be useful to buy,” says CNBC’s Mandy Drury.
