A major arrest has been made in connection with the largest drug raid in Oregon history…as a key figure in ‘Operation Trojan Horse’ is behind bars tonight.
Nearly 40 people were arrested in May of last year during a major drug raid in Klamath County.
Detective Eric Shepherd of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office believes 31 year old Samuel Silva-Morelos was one of the biggest suppliers…
“At one point he actually delivered a pound of methamphetamine to some of our dealers that we were targeting.”
Operation Trojan Horse was triggered by an investigation into the murder of two men found dead near Bonanza in 2012.
Det. Shepherd doesn’t believe Silva-Morelos is directly linked to the murders…
“He was simply a drug source for some of the higher level dealers during Trojan Horse.”
Police say Silva-Morelos fled to Mexico following the drug raid.
Shepherd notes that Silva-Morelos was arrested Wednesday while trying to enter the U.S…
“We were lucky enough to get him at a border crossing through Homeland Security.”
Silva-Morelos is now awaiting return to Oregon to face charges.
The Operation Trojan Horse money investigation also led to ‘Operation Gold Card’.
That investigation led to the arrest of over 60 people on charges of food stamp fraud.
