Two people are dead and four others are injured after two vehicles collide on Highway 140 near milepost 18 Friday evening. Police have released their names.
Authorities say a Toyota pickup was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a Honda Passport.
Police say 25-year-old Larisa Bailey, the passenger in the Honda, and driver 34-year-old Kristi Duncan died.
Both were Klamath Falls residents — and according to police, were not wearing seat belts.
Police believe icy roads played a factor in the crash.
“This time of year, it’s very precarious operating up on these roadways and last night it was very very icy and snowy and it is today too. You’ve got to make sure you look at your tires and make sure your vehicle is working properly, that’s very important in these winter driving conditions,” said Bill Matson, an OSP Trooper.
Two passengers in the Honda, 39-year-old Kenneth Tevald and 23-year-old Dennis Gillespie from Klamath Falls had serious injuries. Two others in the truck, 37-year-old Jacob Layer and his eight-year-old son Joel Layer had non-life-threatening injuries. All were taken to area hospitals.
