Water samples pour in for testing

Medford, Ore. — A water research laboratory in Medford is booming with business.

Not only are Medford residents calling to test their water, but state officials are recommending all public schools in the state get their water tested for lead.

Neilson Research Corporation said they’ve been all hands on deck testing thousands of water samples from schools across the state.

“Our metals department is a big team, and they’ve been working around the clock,” Vice President Kim Ramsay said. “We’re having a night shift now which is the first time we’ve ever done that in the history of the corporation.”

They also said they received nearly two dozen calls Wednesday from homeowners concerned about lead levels in their water.

If you would like to have your water tested visit their lab on Grape Street in downtown Medford for a container and directions on how to properly gather your sample. They’ve dropped their testing price to $38 for local homeowners because of lead concerns.
