Woman arrested for eluding OSP on I-5

Central Point–(OSP) Oregon State Police troopers arrested a 22-year old female Tuesday afternoon following her attempt to elude police northbound on Interstate 5 between Central Point and Sunny Valley.

Officers were alerted to a reckless driver on Interstate 5 and spotted her at about milepost 34 near Central Point. The driver of the Dodge Avenger accelerated from 88 to over 100 m.p.h. when the officer tried to pull her over.

As the chase ensued officers tried to use spike strips to stop the car but they failed. Approaching milepost 70 near Sunny Valley, two commercial trucks occupied both northbound lanes traveling about 35 mph caused the eluding vehicle to slow down.

The troopers deployed a TVI maneuver causing the vehicle to spin and stop on a curb near the end of a freeway on ramp.

The driver was arrested without further incidence. Her name has not yet been released.
