Man tries to export nearly 300 lbs. of pot from Oregon

1024-kf-pot-bust-mug Klamath County, Ore. – According to Oregon State Police, around 10:00 Sunday morning, an OSP trooper stopped a U-Haul truck for a traffic violation on Highway 140E just outside Klamath Falls.

Police said the driver, identified as 24-year-old Kim Mason from Duluth, Georgia, told the trooper he was traveling from Ashland to Salt Lake City, Utah.

OSP said the driver acted suspiciously and the trooper asked to search the vehicle. He was given permission and found the U-Haul was loaded with furniture that was recently purchased from Goodwill. The furniture was blanketed and taped. Inside the furniture, troopers uncovered 296.1 pounds of processed marijuana.

Troopers said Mason was arrested for exporting over 16-ounces of marijuana items from Oregon, a class C felony, and possession of over 32-ounces of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

In a press release, OSP wrote, “In Oregon an individual over 21 years of age may possess up to one ounce of marijuana outside their home. It is unlawful to export marijuana from Oregon. Visit: http://whatslegaloregon.com/ for further information.”
