Medford School District holds first Innovative Educational Summit

Medford, Ore. — Educators, students, parents, and community members alike came together Saturday to talk about the local school system. The Medford School District held it’s first Innovative Educational Summit at Central Medford High School.

From 8 AM to 3 PM, participants heard presentations from expert educational speakers. They also held group discussions about how to get students more involved in their education, and their future.

“I’ve just been really impressed by everyone’s vulnerability and to be able to come together and just listen to each other, brainstorm ideas together,” said Amy Herbst, the Principal of Central Medford High School.

A few ideas that came out of the meeting include adding additional projects like the “senior project” in younger grades, and help students secure internships that compliment their interests while still in school. Ideas from Saturday’s summit will be taken into consideration as the district moves forward.
