Portland, Ore. – Nora the polar bear has officially arrived at her now home at the Oregon Zoo. The 10-month-old cub was transported from the Columbus Zoo after gaining national attention.
According to the Oregon Zoo, Nora will move to the polar bear habitat after being quarantined for 30 days. Visitors should be able to see Nora in mid-October.
“She seems very comfortable,” said Amy Cutting, who oversees the zoo’s marine life area. “She’s a bit jet-lagged, but she ate a big breakfast this morning, went for several swims, played in a big pile of ice and enjoyed some epic back-scratching sessions.”
The zoo said Nora’s birth was significant since polar bear births in animal-care facilities across the country.
