Obama: Trump “unfit” to serve

NC_politics160802_1500x845Washington, D.C. (NBC News) — President Obama delivered a blistering critique of Donald Trump Tuesday.

Speaking from the White House, the president said Trump is “unfit” to be his successor.

“He doesn’t appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues,” Mr. Obama said, adding “…he’s woefully unprepared to do this job.”

The President went on to say Trump’s series of controversial comments have forced some Republicans to criticize him as well.

“Why are you still endorsing him?,” President Obama asked. “What does this say about your party, that this is your standard bearer?”

Trump later responded to President Obama’s criticism in a statement, saying the president has shown “failed leadership” and that Hillary Clinton is unfit to serve in any government office.
