Only on NBC5: Stolen vehicle recovered in Medford, suspects behind bars

Medford, Ore. — A shocking scene for witnesses in Medford, when police respond to the location of a reported stolen vehicle with their guns drawn. It happened Tuesday morning on Aviation and Cardinal, and two people are now behind bars accused of stealing it from the owners driveway. That owner speaking only to NBC5 News, telling us he was fixing the car up as a Christmas gift for his 17-year-old son.

Bobby Gimenez is in disbelief, as he looks at the mess left behind in his  ’95 Ford Explorer. The SUV was stolen from his house Monday afternoon, and a witness tipped police off to it’s location Tuesday morning.

Lieutenant Mike Budruea says, “it appears the witness actually saw the vehicle being circulated on a facebook page and recognized it.”
Medford police and state troopers responded and arrested Molly Tucker and Jamie Norris. A witness who did not want to be identified says this isn’t the first time police have been called to the area.

“That parking lot behind me seems to attract a lot of people,” he says, “you see some strange things out there.”

Gimenez says the car needs a new ignition, and he hopes he’ll be able to find one before Christmas. As for the grinch who took it, he has a few choice words for them.

“Get your own job, get your own car, leave other people’s stuff alone.”

Norris and Tucker are in the Jackson County Jail on $5,000 bail. Both are facing charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
