Democrats stage gun sit-in

NC_housesitin0622_700x394(NBC News) Congressional Democrats took a stand on gun control Wednesday with a sit-in on the House floor.

Congressman John Lewis, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement, led the demonstration.

The sit-in is an old-school act of civil disobedience that went viral with the help of social media.

“Let us vote! We came here to do our job! We came here to work!” Rep. John Lewis said.

House Republicans kept a low profile but several Democratic Senators made appearances, including Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy who led last week’s 15-hour Senate filibuster on gun control.

Democrats are refusing to budge until they secure a vote on legislation to combat gun violence.
