Promotions within Medford Police Department

mpd promotions eastmanMedford, Ore. — Two of Medford’s finest now have new job titles.

Phil Eastman and Justin Ivens were promoted to Lieutenant and Sergeant Tuesday afternoon. Combined, the two have nearly a half a century of law enforcement experience. Both say they’re excited for the new challenges and experiences ahead.

“You know whether that means we’re getting better equipment, or better training or better personnel or whatever that is it’s just an improvement,” Lt. Phil Eastman tells NBC5 News.

“When I was last in a patrol car we didn’t even have computers back then at that time,” Sgt. Justin Ivens says, “so there’s gonna be a learning curve that’s for sure, but the work’s still the same.”

These are the latest in a string of promotions at MPD since the selection of Randy Sparacino as Chief of Police. MPD still needs to find a new Deputy Chief, to fill the vacancy from Chief Sparacino’s promotion.
