Protests continue in Portland after riot declaration

PORTLAND, Ore. (KGW) – Portland saw its eleventh-straight week of protesting following the death of George Floyd.

Once again, demonstrators gathered to rally for the abolition of police and prisons and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Some protesters chanted “Black Lives Matter” as police warned them to leave the area or face arrests, citations, and even removal by force.

Several people were arrested during the protest.

Sunday’s protests followed demonstrations Saturday night when rioters broke into the Portland Police Association’s building in North Portland and lit a fire.
