El Nino fears trigger business boom

NC_elninobiza112_700x394Calif. — (KCRA) Worries over the potential for strong El Nino-related storms is leading to a big spike in business for some California roofers.

Contractors who provide tree services or repair or replace fences are also expected to fare better this season as homeowners seek help preparing for an anticipated wet winter.

“Last year, I was busy,” said Bardo Ramirez, a roofer who was installing a new roof in El Dorado Hills this week. “Two years ago, I was a little busy. But this one, I’m the busiest guy right now.”

Ramirez said customers calling him now will have to wait between one to three months for service, depending on the type of roof they want.

“They are very afraid,” Ramirez said.
