0502 Thomas MooreCurry County, Ore. – Police are investigating after the remains of a man were found partially submerged in the Rogue River near Gold Beach.

According to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, the remains of 34-year-old Thomas Glenn Moore of Gold Beach were found about two miles upriver from the Quosanta Creek boat ramp on Friday afternoon, that’s about 16 miles upriver from Gold Beach.

Moore’s significant other reportedly told police that she and Moore had been camping with a friend the night before at a spot near Cole Riffle. She told officers that around 2:00 in the morning, Moore had walked away from the camp site and did not come back. She told officers that she had searched the area with the friend all day, but they did not find Moore.

Police say the Curry County District Attorney has been notified and the Curry County Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy to help determine the cause of death.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.

Officers add that in November of 2015, Moore was listed as a missing person, but was found in good health in the Coos Bay area the day after he was reported missing.
