Rogue Valley veterans get free credit counseling

Medford, Ore. — Rogue Valley veterans are getting free credit counseling thanks to a local non-profit. Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Southern Oregon is providing free one-on-one credit report reviews for veterans at Rogue Valley Veterans Community Outreach.

The hope is that by dealing with any credit issues, vets can more easily rent a house or apartment and take advantage of VA loans.

“It shows you what you owe and how much you owe,” veteran Dennis Carrithers says, “it’s more helpful than what you think.”

“If you’re taking care of your past credit and you’re taking care of all your documentation about your life and maybe you had a rough go and you’re trying to change that. That’s the whole thing that’s going to make you more viable for them to want to take a chance on you,” Tisa Dunagan says.”

Additional sessions will take place at Rogue Valley Veterans Community Outreach on Thursday, May 26th and Friday, May 27th from 9am – 12:30pm.
