White City, Ore. — A man was taken into custody at gunpoint Saturday morning, after crashing his car in White City, and running from police. Only NBC5 News was on scene as the suspect was  arrested.

The call came in just before 10 Saturday morning, of a single car crash into a guard rail on Merry lane. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and Eagle Point Police responded.

Once on scene, officials determined the driver had ran, and was hiding in the field. After a quick search, they located the suspect hiding in the creek.

“We took him into custody, he’d been in the water, he was possible hypothermic, and he was shivering violently,” Deputy Steven Scow said. “We called medical, and he’s going to get transported to the hospital for observation at this point.”

Officers are not releasing the suspect’s name, due to the medical nature of the call. He is facing numerous charges, including driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving. The passenger of the car was slightly injured in the crash, but she was not transported to the hospital.
