Tropical Storm Eta lashes south Florida

(NBC News)  Parts of South Florida are under water after Tropical Storm Eta brought heavy rainfall to the region Monday.

Up to 18 inches of rain fell in some areas, inundating neighborhoods with water.

“We recommend that everyone, in areas that are flooded, stay inside, wait until the waters recede,” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez urged.

The storm made landfall in the Florida Keys late Sunday after it lashed Cuba, forcing tens of thousands to evacuate homes in flooded areas.

In Honduras more than one million people were displaced due to landslides and floods blamed on Eta.
