University of Oregon student killed in Eugene train accident

0405 train tracksEugene, Ore. — A University of Oregon student was killed after apparently falling from a train.

The Oregonian reports 18-year-old Connor James was identified Monday by Lane County officials after the accident Friday morning.

Police say someone matching the description of James was seen climbing on a Portland-bound train. It’s not known if alcohol or drugs were involved.

According to James’ family, he was an avid lacrosse player. The family is setting up a memorial fund that would provide gear and equipment to his Sprague lacrosse team, and provide a college scholarship fund to be awarded to a lacrosse player every year.
