Medford, Ore. – It started out as a fun evening. The event at the Inn at the Commons was filled with laughs and smiles – people were cheering every time democratic nominee Hillary Clinton came on the big screen. The atmosphere during the day resembled a Super Bowl party.

But right around 8:30 p.m. when the race got even closer between Trump and Clinton, the crowd became a ghost town. Those smiles turned into frowns, parties were leaving one after another. Just disappointed. They said it’s just not what they expected. They were especially disappointed to learn that the democrats were down in the race for secretary of state. Mainly between Dennis Richardson and Brad Avakian.

“Unfortunately Brad Avakian, he’s a really nice man, and I’ve met him a few times. He ran this race as a partisan. He ran the race as a democrat. And as for many voters, that was a little too much,” Kevin Stine said, Medford City Council.

It’s still a tight race, and votes are still being counted.

We also would like to remind people that results are not final at this time.
