Valentine-themed run to honor Ashland runner Todd Ragsdale

Phoenix, Ore. — An annual race that was well-loved by the missing runner found dead in Ashland last weekend is taking place Saturday, and organizers are doing their part to make sure his memory lives on.

The Couple Shuffle 10k, and LoveStinks 5k were among Todd Ragsdale’s favorite races. The run is raising money for a new track for Phoenix Elementary School, but t-shirts will also be sold to raise money for Ragsdale’s family.

Ragsdale went missing in January after going for a run in Ashland. His body was found 2 days later. Organizer Amber Jacobson says incorporating the two causes was a no-brainer.

“He [Todd] was always there, every race, all through high school you know he was always doing something fun and exciting and crazy and it really was inspiring for us younger kids,” Jacobson says, “and I think that’s a big part of why myself and others are involved in the running club.”

Runners will be given a Star Wars sash to wear in Ragsdale’s honor. Those interested in participating can register Saturday morning at Phoenix Elementary School beginning at 8 a.m.. The race starts at 9:15 a.m.. Registration is $40 per couple for the Couple Shuffle Relay and $25 for the LoveStinks 5k and $7 for all kids 17 & under. For more information click HERE.
