Wide spread power outages throughout southern Oregon

Josephine County, Ore.- Widespread power outages were reported throughout southern Oregon Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to Pacific Power.

While outages were scattered throughout the area, many of the outages were centered in Douglas and Josephine counties. At one point, more than 10,000 homes were without power in Douglas County and approximately 6,500 lost electricity in Josephine County.

According to Pacific Power, much of the problems were the result of three substations taken out by bad weather. In the Fruitdale area of Grants Pass, a tree fell on power lines.

Pacific Power expected power to be restored to everyone by midday Thursday.
