Bear Creek Greenway sweep reveals marijuana grows

GREENWAY SWEEP

Talent, Ore.- Officers from several agencies have completed a safety sweep of Bear Creek Greenway in anticipation of the start of the school year.

Medford Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland Police Department, Central Point Police Department, Phoenix Police Department and Talent Police Department worked together to perform the sweep. They were focused on increasing the safety, security and cleanliness of the Bear Creek Greenway.

Officers had warned homeless campers in the area of the sweep. Those contacted both before and during the sweep were told about the services available to them, including food, shelter and medical services.

Following this sweep, several agencies will conduct a cleanup of the greenway.

During the sweep, several arrests were made and citations were issued. Two marijuana grows were also located.
