0819 Ashton EatonRio De Janeiro, Brazil — In a dazzling display of his all-around athleticism, Ashton Eaton from Bend, Oregon, ran faster, jumped higher, and threw farther than his decathlon rivals to become one of the few men in Olympic history to repeat as winner of the 10-event competition to secure his second straight Olympic gold.

Eaton’s run set a new Olympic record. “I knew the Olympic record was there, and for the sake of my coach I was like man I have got to try to go for this thing. To equal it – it’s like I guess I’ll leave something on the table,” said Eaton.
