Dramatic drop in New York Stock Exchange trips ‘circuit breaker’

NEW YORK CITY(NBC) – The New York Stock Exchange halted trading minutes after the opening bell.

Stocks sunk Monday morning amid economic fallout from the spreading coronavirus and an all-out oil price war.

The tumble triggered a key market circuit breaker at 9:34 Eastern, minutes into the opening bell.

Trading stopped for 15 minutes, re-opening at 9:49.
