Fatal stabbing in Myrtle Creek

0811 Gunnar VachonMyrtle Creek, Ore. – A man was arrested after a fatal stabbing at a Myrtle Creek home on Wednesday.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported stabbing in the 100 block of Surprise Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 41-year-old Myrtle Creek resident Chris A. Bell suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medical interventions were unsuccessful and Bell was declared deceased at the scene.

Residents told police that 22-year-old Gunnar D. Vachon had left the scene after the stabbing. He was found a short time later by deputies and detained without incident. Vachon was lodged at the Douglas County Jail and charged with murder.
