Head-On crash shuts down Medford road

MEDFORD SAGE ROAD CRASHMEDFORD, ORE. — One woman is seriously injured, after a head on crash in Medford. It happened around 1:30 PM on Sage Road near the post office.

Police say it appears a car was traveling south and drifted into the northbound lane colliding head-on with a pick up truck. Both of the vehicles rolled over, and first responders had to free the female driver from her silver sedan.

NBC5 News spoke with the driver of the truck, who amazingly walked away.

“I’m doing alright, still in a little bit of shock but I’m doing alright,” Chris Williams said. He had just bought the new truck three weeks ago but tells us it is insured. He says he’s just thankful everyone is okay.

“Very lucky, it’s just a truck though, human life is more important.”

Williams says wearing a seat belt likely saved his life. The other driver was talking with paramedics, but she was taken to a local hospital with what police are calling significant injuries.

Police are still investigating what caused the driver to drift into oncoming traffic, but they say at this point speed does not appear to be a factor.
