Central Point family loses house and memories to fire

Central Point, Ore.–An evening fire Friday destroyed not only a home but the items inside, which the family said are irreplaceable.

Before 7:00 p.m. on Seven Oaks Road, Fire District 3 and Medford Fire & Rescue arrived to the blaze. They said it appeared the fire started in the back of the house and spread to the attic.

Nobody was inside the house at the time.

The owner, Wayne Olson lives in a trailer behind itbecause he said the home brings back too many memories of his late wife.

He said he’s just glad no one was hurt.

“It’s pretty much gone there’s a lot of memorabilia inside of it… the old stuff but we’re going to be just fine.”

Fire crews said the fire was hard to contain because of the type of shingles on the roof.

They do not know what caused the fire and said they will continue to investigate.

Olson said he will still live on the property. Buthis kids said they’re devastated because they’re late mother’s belongings were inside the home.
