Witness describes what he heard on day of murder

Medford, Ore. — Friday was day two of testimony in the Travis Asbill murder trial.

The prosecution continued to bring witnesses to the stand. Among the people testifying today were numerous eyewitnesses, a Medford police officer, the medical examiner, and a paramedic.

One witness, who NBC 5 News was not allowed to film said he was visiting the apartment above where 54-year-old Donald Mack was killed.

He described what he heard.

“I heard something, a noise and I said it sounded like somebody or something was hurt. We heard some type of something in despair,” said Philip Wise, one of the witnesses for the prosecution.

According to prosecutors, in the summer of 2012 Travis Asbill beat Mack to death with a golf club, while he was on parole for the attempted murder of another man.

The defense attorney said it doesn’t look like the prosecution will wrap up their case until early next week. When they do, the defense will be expected to present their case.
