“Chief” from famous TV show inspires local winery

Ashland, Ore.– The main character from a famous TV comedy show, “Get Smart” is all the hype for an Ashland based wine, called “The Chief’sChardonnay.”

Platt Anderson Cellars is the first Urban Winery in Ashland City Limits.All of the wine from Platt Anderson Cellars comes straight from Gill Anderson’s garage. He doesn’t sell it from his garage and it’s grapes come from other local wineries.

Gill Anderson and his wife have a strong tie to that show, “Get Smart.”

Gill’s wife, Shelby is Edward Platt’sdaughter, he plays “Chief” in the show and is the inspiration for the Chardonnay that started being made in 2010.

“He was a big family guy. He really wanted his family to do well and I think he would have been proud of Gill,” said Shelby Anderson.

The wine is sold at local grocery stores in Ashland and online. The Shelby and Gill donate money made from the wine to various charities.
