Dan Goyette Enters Plea

A plea is in for former talent city councilman Dan Goyette. He’s taken a plea of coercion–in connection with conversations about nude photos with a 17 year old girl.

In court Thursday afternoon former Talent City Councilman Dan Goyette entered an alford plea. That means, he’s not admitting to the crime. Original charges of attempting to take suggestive photos of the teenager were dropped in exchange for taking a coercion plea.

In court, Judge Lorenzo Mejia called the case creepy. Police say last year Goyette discussed on several occasions taking nude photos of her.

Now, Goyette must serve three years of supervised probation, undergo therapy and serve 120 hours of community service.

This is just the latest drama in a city council gone wild. Right now, current Talent City Councilman E.J. McManus is facing pressure to leave office after he got caught drinking and driving.

“Realistically, it’s been a difficult year for a mayor. We’ve had 3 city managers. We lost 2 council people.” says Talent Mayor, Bill Cecil.

We spoke with former Councilman Goyette who is on probation and admits he’s sorry for what happened.

The conditions of his release are up to his probation officer regarding therapy and internet use.
