Firefighters were at Sherm’s Food 4 Less training to climb 69 flights of stairs for cancer cure research.
About ten Medford firefighters are heading to Seattle for the climb. All in an effort to fight leukemia and lymphoma.
“There’s approximately 150,000 people diagnosed with it every year and we’re just out here trying to help find a cure for cancer,” said Jon Peterson, a Medford firefighter.
Fire departments from LA to New Zealand will travel to Washington for the event.
Last year the Medford fire department raised just under a thousand dollars. This year, firefighters are trying to raise $1,500 to $2,000.
