Friends band together to honor Melissa Hudson

Grants Pass, ore.– Nancy Iannios said her best friend,Melissa Hudson was like nobody she knew.

“She’s very tall, very beautiful, smiling all the time. Just very happy. Meet someone for the first time and call them an immediate friend.”

The same immediate friendship that brought Iannios and Hudson close for three years.

A friendship cut too short when Hudson died in a car accident Sunday, Mother’s Day near Gasquet.

Just the day before, two special moments. She had celebrated her 28th birthday. And a Facebook photo shows her engagement ring from finance Jacob Zeliff.

“She called me Sunday morning and she could barely talk. She was so excited and she was a Christian so I know that she’s in a better place and I have to say that if you’ve got to leave this world she couldn’t have been any happier than she was,” said Iannios.

And that’s why Iannios and the lead singer of one of Hudson’s favorite bands, “Blowin’ Smoke” decided to do something special for Hudson’s family and her 8-year-old son.

Friday and Saturday some of Hudson’s favorite bands will perform andfund raiseat Cedarwood Saloon in Grants Pass, one of Hudson’s favorite hang-outs.

“She was always the first one on the dance floor dancing. It’s going to be a long road ahead,” said an emotional Iannios.

Hudson’s fiance is in serious condition at OHSU. A band member who also owns Four Daughters is donating a seven day trip to Hawaii that will be raffled off Saturday at midnight.

Friends are also hosting a tribute fundraiser for Hudson on June 6th & 7th at Cedarwood. 10 bands will perform.
