Grants Pass police now equipt with body cams

Grants Pass, Ore. — Camera technology is also helping police in Grants Pass, two years after a pilot project to have police use body cameras.

At a cost of about $500 each these cameras replaced older camera technology which used to be attached to police tasers, now each uniformed officer can wear a body cam during their shift to act as a second set of eyes.

We can show exactly what happened, what they officers are saying, what the suspect is saying, Grants Pass police say the technology not only allows them to collect video records of each encounter, but they believe it alters the behavior of the people involved.
