Grassfire spreads near homes in Central Point

FIRE PICCentral Point, Ore. — Some homes in Central Point are spared by a fast moving grass fire that came dangerously close Sunday afternoon.

Several helicopter water drops were made on the hot dry grass behind the homes along the 800 block of Tolo road. Firefighters said those drops made containment easier for crews on the ground.

The Oregon Department of Forestry and Jackson County Fire District Three fought the two acre blaze, and could be seen putting water on the hot spots.

Crews were able to get the upper hand in a short time. No homes were damaged. The cause is still under investigation.
