Group gathering signatures to label GMO foods in Oregon

Medford, Ore. — The battle against GMO’s in Oregon is now moving on to labeling.

Using the momentum of the GMO measure here in Jackson County the group “Oregon Right to Know” started gathering signatures in Medford Tuesday night.

They want to get a statewide GMO labeling measure on the November ballot and say Oregonians have a right to know what they are eating.

“They know that people don’t want to eat GMO’s. They know that it’s going to be detrimental to their business if it’s labeled and they know they are going to have to shift away from using GMO’s” said Karen Swift with the Bio Safety Alliance.

Oregon Right to Know needs more than 87-thousand signatures by July 3rd to get the initiative on the November ballot.
