Gun sales booming

Grants Pass, Ore. — Guns are a hot commodity right now with two of America’s largest firearm makers reporting a boost in sales.

David Miller owns Oak Grove Guns in Eugene. He travels all over the state doing gun shows. He said he has seen about a 40 percent increase in sales within the past 18 months. The increase is steady across the state.

“A lot of it’s open to gun control. people are afraid their guns are going to be taken away and they want to have them while they can,” said Miller.

Miller also credited budget cuts to Sheriff’s Departments for the boom in sales. He said he’s been selling more guns to people who live in rural areas and know it could take a while for a deputy to respond to an emergency.

Miller said he’s seen sales slow down in the past four weeks, but expects them to pick back up once the legislature is in session and talking more about gun control.
