JaCo Sheriff Candidate speaks out about alleged election violation

Medford, Ore.– Jackson County Sheriff candidate, Bob Sergi spoke out about being investigated by the Oregon Department of Justice.

Jackson County Sheriff Lieutenant Sergi is accused of violating election law.

On Thursday Lt. Sergi sent out a press release that stated he is confident he will be cleared of any wrong doing and said he did nothing wrong.

Nearly two weeks ago Sergi was put on administrative leave when the Jackson County Sheriff’s department filed a complain against him.

The allegations said he isaccused of using addresses from an employee’s roster to solicit campaign funds but Sergi said that’s not the case.

“Well I used a database that has all registered voters and its perfectly legal and common for campaign purposes,” said Sergi.

The Department ofJusticewould not comment on the status of the investigation. But Sergi said he will continue running for sheriff.

Sergi also said he is still on administrative paid leave.

NBC 5 tried reaching the sheriff’s office but they did not return any phone calls.
