Klamath County Sheriff’s Office rescues a dozen horses

Klamath Falls, Ore. — A dozen horses are now with a rescue group after Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputies seized them over the weekend from a ranch in Sprague River.

Nadine Hoy of Project Spirit says the horses were severely starved, and had no water. Hoy believes the horses now have a fighting chance: “Absolutely…two of them are very pregnant; it’s a shame that they’re so thin, having these babies, but we’ll do everything we can to see that they make it.”

Sgt. Darren Frank with the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office says, “these horses were in trouble and needed help.”

Sheriff’s Deputies have been monitoring the horses since June. They’ll soon be available for adoption through Project Spirit.

The owners of the horses surrendered them willingly, and will not face charges.
