MacCallum’s Mother Speaks Out; Donations Accepted for Children

Tonight a mother is speaking out after police arrested two suspects in connection to the murder of her son, 34 year old Michael Christopher MacCallum, who went by his middle name, Chris. MacCallum’s wife, 26 year old Patricia MacCallum, or Tricia, and her step sister, 27 year old Amber Lubbers, were arrested Friday evening for what police are calling the premeditated murder of Chris MacCallum. It’s been nearly 3 weeks since police found Chris MacCallum’s body with gunshot wounds at the bottom of a steep drop off deep in the Applegate near the Oregon border on the California side. Chris’ mother says she’s shocked the suspects are family members but at the same time, relieved someone is behind bars.

“It’s really bitter sweet because it’s sweet knowing the detectives had arrested Tricia and at the same time it’s very sad, you know it would be her, his own wife,” said Chris’ mother.

MacCallum and Lubbers remain behind bars at the Jackson County Jail waiting to be taken to Siskiyou County where they will be formally charged with murder. Sarah Ramirez, MacCallum’s mother has set up a trust fund account for MacCallum’s two young children, who are currently being cared for by Tricia MacCallum’s sister. If you’d like to make a donation you can drop it off at any Umpqua Bank location, under the name Michael Christopher MacCallum.
