One person dead after explosion on Highway 26

Rhododendron, ORe. –A person is dead after an explosion along Highway 26 Thursday morning.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the explosion was reported at 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 48.

The FBI says there’s one death associated with the explosion but the cause of the person’s death has not been released.

Deputies found a vehicle at the scene near Rhododendron.

A bomb squad was called in and determined there was no further threat there.

The highway will remain closed until further notice while agents continue to clear the scene and process evidence.
