Murphy, Ore. — Parents are on high alertafter two threats in one day at Hidden Valley High School.
The school was placed on lock-down for a few hours Thursday and a suspect was arrested after allegedly bringing a knife to campus.
Hours after the lockdown was lifted, school administrators found athreateningmessage inside of the school.
“I think it’s a prank, I think it’s a rude prank. But the problem is it could have not been a prank and I don’t like it,” said concerned parent Glenda Mull.
Mull pulled her kids out of school after Thursday’s incident.
“You can have all the drills you want, but when it comes down to it, I don’t think any of the schools in this valley are prepared for it.”
Principal Daye Stone wouldn’t say what the threat said he did confirm the two incidents are unrelated.
Security was tightened at the school Friday aslockers were searched and bags were checked upon arrival.
Phones were even confiscated for the day.
That’s one of the major reason’s Mull pulled her kids out.
In an e-mail and automated message to parents, the school excused children whose parents didn’t want them in class Friday.
Stone says the school is doing everything they can to reassure parents and kids the school is safe.
Stone also says the district held a meeting Friday to review the week, and said they learned ways to improve security.
They’re working to implement those measures as soon as possible.
