The videos show the arrest and contain graphic language, with many of the spectators accusing police of excessive force. The social media posts had already been shared thousands of times by Monday afternoon.

Police were called just after midnight Sunday to several reports of a disturbance involving about nine people in the St. Johns neighborhood. The callers said property was damaged and there were threats of a shooting.

Arriving officers talked with several people matching the description of suspect group, one of whom was the 16-year-old being arrested in the video.

Officers working to handcuff the suspect had to overcome his “active aggression, including his choking the female officer involved in the struggle,” the PPB report says.
