“Shoot To Kill” signs target surveyors

(WKYC) An Ohio man’s threat: “WE SHOOT TO KILL” is written in a sign he posted on his property after learning energy company surveyors planned to come onto his land.

The NEXUS Gas Transmission project is a proposed 250 mile pipeline, expected to begin in Columbiana County and run through several Ohio counties including Medina, Lorain and Summit, ending in Ontario, Canada.

The full sign posted on Walter and Verna Giebeler’s York Township property reads “No Trespassing. Due to the High Cost of an Attorney and Our Lack of Patience, WE SHOOT TO KILL.”

Walter says last August he received notice from NEXUS that the company hoped to build a pipeline running through their property. Subsequently, Walter says he received notice that surveyors were planning on coming onto his property.

“If you would be one of the people who had to survey my property and you would see that sign and see that mean old fart coming down the driveway, maybe carrying a shotgun or maybe not, maybe just playing around with his baseball bat and then you might think, maybe that job isn’t all that much worth,” Giebeler says.

And he’s not backing down.

“Without my permission and without a court order, I would call it a threat. Yeah,” Giebeler added.
