State Wants Sex Offenders that Move to Oregon to Register

Out of state sex offenders who relocate to oregon may soon be required to register inthe state.

The Oregon House of Representatives voted unanimously Friday to pass House Bill 3253.

The bill would require sex offenders who relocate to Oregon to register in Oregon, even if their conviction is for a sex crime that does not fit into Oregons code.

“I think the more states that do this the better, so that someone can’t just escape their past by moving to another state. Ithink it’s important for the community to know that if someone does have a past, that information should go beyond state lines.”

The bill is now on it’s way to the Senate for review.
