Walgreens employees stop elderly man from getting scammed

WALGREENS PICGrants Pass, Ore. —  Police say employees at the Grants Pass Walgreens stopped an elderly man from getting scammed this week.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, a man walked into the store on the 100 block of Union avenue on the 20th. Officers say he asked store workers for a large amount of iTunes gift cards.

When they asked why he was buying so many, he said he had gotten a call that his Grandson was in jail in Las Vegas.

Police say the caller requested money at first, but the victim didn’t have enough, so the caller asked for the gift cards. The store employees were able to stop the man from buying them.
